AlbrechtConsult supports Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes in the implementation of the project

On 24–25 February 2026, the Steering Committee of the EU project VERKKO met in Berlin for its first in-person meeting since the project began. Around 80 representatives from 40 partner organisations across 12 European countries took part in the exchange.

AlbrechtConsult supports Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes in the implementation of the project, particularly with organisational and strategic aspects of project management. We contribute our broad experience from European ITS and C-ITS initiatives to the discussions with project partners.

Funded under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the VERKKO project runs from June 2025 to December 2028. Its objective is to advance the deployment and large-scale implementation of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) across Europe and to strengthen digital services for more efficient, safer and more sustainable traffic management.

The meeting addressed both organisational and technical aspects of the project. In addition to topics such as project structure, reporting processes and financing, discussions focused on the activities of the project’s working groups. A representative of the EU agency CINEA also provided insights into administrative and financial aspects of project implementation.

During several working group sessions, project partners presented their ongoing activities and discussed the next steps. Key topics included urban C-ITS technologies and smart cycling approaches, the Europe-wide deployment of C-ITS services, and digital solutions for ports and multimodal logistics.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for partners to exchange perspectives in person, review progress made so far and coordinate the next steps for implementing the project activities.
